Michael Jordan’s ex-wife praises Angel Reese

Angel Reese has been one of the most impressive rookies through the first few weeks of the WNBA season. Following another strong outing on Tuesday, she received praise from someone with close ties to Michael Jordan.

From 1989 to 2006, Vanoy was the wife of the NBA icon. She appears to still be a big fan of the game, as she attended the Chicago Sky’s matchup with the Seattle Storm.

Even though the Sky weren’t able to win, Vanoy still gave a shoutout to Reese for her performance in an Instagram post.

“Well, we didn’t get the W, but Angel Reese got a double double,” Vanoy wrote on Instagram.

Angel Reese off to strong to start to rookie season

During her time at LSU, Angel Reese solidified herself as one of the top stars in women’s college basketball. Now in the WNBA, she is once again among the top players of her peers.

The 2024 WNBA draft was headlined by players like Caitlin Clark and Cameron Brink. However, Reese has been one of the early frontrunners in the Rookie of the Year race.

Through her first five games, Reese has put together a strong start to her pro career. Her scoring is one of the main standouts, reaching double figures in every game.

Tuesday was the first time Reese recorded a double-double, but Reese has come close on multiple occasions. She grabbed eight rebounds in her debut and followed that up with nine in back-to-back games.

With her performance against the Storm, Angel Reese put herself in some rare company. She is now one of just two players in franchise history to record a double-double within their first five games. Reese is also the first rookie this season to post a double-double.

It’s still early, but Reese is off to one of the best starts by any rookie this season. She is second in points, first in rebounds, second in steals and third in efficiency.

After battling it out in college for years, Reese and Clark now might find themselves in an air-tight race for Rookie of the Year.
