UConn women’s basketball is going dancing after securing an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I women’s tournament. Not that they really needed it.
The Huskies won the Big East tournament title with a 78-42 drubbing of Georgetown in the conference tournament final, securing themselves an automatic bid to March Madness. But even before postseason play began, the Big East’s top seed was the No. 9 ranked team in the country on the USA TODAY Coaches Poll.
UConn ended its season with a 26-5 regular season record, including an undefeated (18-0) mark against Big East competition. That would have been enough to guarantee at least an at-large bid for the Huskies.
Now, having won their fourth conference tournament title in a row, UConn and head coach Geno Auriemma are dancing for a 35th straight season. Here’s everything to know about the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team heading into Selection Sunday’s bracket reveal.
