In her post, Staley expressed profound longing and gratitude, stating, “I miss you every day. I wish you were here today to see how far I’ve come.”

Staley credited her mother as the cornerstone of her success, emphasizing the values Estelle instilled in her. “My mother taught me so many things—like hard work and faith—that I dedicated my book Uncommon Favor to her,” Staley noted.

Estelle, who passed away in 2017 after battling Alzheimer’s disease, was remembered by Staley as a disciplinarian who taught her to be a faithful woman. “She is definitely the one that has helped me become who I am today,” Staley shared, highlighting her mother’s influence on her journey from the Raymond Rosen housing projects in North Philadelphia to becoming a Hall of Fame player and a three-time Olympic gold medalist.

In her tribute, Staley also mentioned her book Uncommon Favor, describing it as a story of her life and her mother, and how Estelle molded her to become a great basketball player and coach. “A tribute to her is in the book,” Staley said, inviting readers to learn more about their journey.
