Christie Sides Reviews Fever Teammate’s Reaction To Angel Reese’s Hit On Caitlin Clark
The Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky went head-to-head on Sunday, playing a rematch of the most thrilling game of the season. Their last matchup featured a flagrant foul by Sky guard Chennedy Carter on rookie Caitlin Clark, which turned out to be the biggest storyline of the game and the spotlight of women’s basketball days after.
Another controversial play unfolded in their second game contest when Chicago rookie Angel Reese hit Clark across the head while she was going up for a layup. The first-year star was called for a flagrant foul, penalty one.
Fever head coach Christie Sides was focused on one portion of the play: the reaction from Clark and her teammates.
“I was really proud how they all kept their composure, and the right call was made… just make the right call… and we can move forward,” said Sides, per Matthew Byrne on X.
She credits the Fever’s behavior to the refs making the right call at the correct timing. When they had competed against the Sky earlier in the season and Carter had the hit on Clark, the play wasn’t upgraded to a flagrant foul till the post-game review.
It seems the maturity of Clark and her teammates has risen throughout the season. Her teammates received backlash for not backing up the rookie in her skirmish with Carter, but they made sure to step in the middle and separate Clark on Sunday.
The Fever now advance to 5-10 on the year, one game above thy Sky in the Eastern Conference standings.
