LSU’s trolling video seemed to give Clark some extra motivation.
In the build up to their intense NCAA championship rematch with Caitlin Clark and Iowa in the Elite 8, the LSU team gave the Hawkeyes some extra motivation by mocking their classic “High School Musical” warm up video with a team musical performance of their own.
Then Caitlin Clark made them change their tune.
Clark didn’t need more motivation after the sour taste Angel Reese left in her mouth in last year’s title game, but LSU gave her an extra nudge and she responded.
The NCAA all-time leading scorer poured in 41 points, including nine three-pointers as she pushed her team back to the Final Four and ended LSU’s season.
LSU’s pregame video that gave Iowa motivation
Reese and her teammates chose to lip sync “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana, with Last-Tear Poa, Hailey Van Lith and Flau’jae Johnson playing star roles.
It seemed to be a clear nod to the viral TikTok of the entire Iowa team jamming out to a song from High School Musical during warmups for a game in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
Just one day before, the Tigers made a team video referencing the food items, milk and cookies and Louisiana hot sauce, that they were compared to in the controversial LA Times article before their Sweet 16 game against UCLA.
It was a perfect joke to make after a win, but LSU’s decision to do a similar video before they knew what Clark had in store for them proved to be a grave mistake.
