The LSU basketball star is locked in with her team for March Madness.
Angel Reese is newly single, but the LSU women’s basketball star lived up to her unapologetic brand, showing no remorse after the break up with Florida State basketball player and social media boo Cam’Ron Fletcher.
“I do what’s best for me, that’s it,” Angel told her followers on an Instagram live video.
“I’m the catch.”
Angel Reese’s messy break up
It was a fitting statement from the SEC Player of the Year, who has both “Cam’Ron” and “unapologetic” tattooed on her body. Reese and Fletcher dated for months, surviving the holidays, a major knee surgery for Fletcher, and the challenges of long-distance.
Although it’s unclear exactly why they broke up, she hinted that the situation was pretty messy, stating “I put my energy into too many people that don’t deserve my energy.”
The former lovers have deleted photos of each other from their Instagram accounts, but TikToks still exist of them together. Cam took it an extra step, mocking Angel by posting a TikTok using the same sound that she did the day before, with both “sub” posts clearly aimed at each other.
“Yeah I’m single. I don’t got no man. Don’t attach me to no man. That’s all I’m gonna say,” Reese made clear in the Instagram live. “I am single, but I’m not ready to mingle.”
“I’m just focusing on my college career, I’m focusing on school. That’s all I’m focused on right now, and I’m focused on me. I’m not focused on nobody else.”
The only people she has to focus on are the teams headed to Baton Rouge for the NCAA Regional in the first weekend of March Madness.
To her surprise, LSU got a 3-seed. They host No. 14 Rice in the first round on Friday, and if they win, Reese’s final home game would take place on Sunday against the winner of No. 6 Louisville and No. 11 Middle Tennessee State.
Looking past the first weekend, if the favorites all advance, the Tigers would have to get past No. 2 UCLA in the Sweet 16 before a rematch of last year’s NCAA title game against Caitlin Clark and No. 1 Iowa.
